Shay Gaafar spent several years working on FMCG data projects across Egypt and the Gulf. The engagement pattern was consistent: a brand manager needed to understand their competitive position — pricing, shelf space, distribution reach — but the data available told only half the story.
Modern trade data was accessible. Traditional trade data — the baqalas, the corner stores, the kiosks where a large share of volume actually moved — was essentially invisible to standard intelligence tools. The gap wasn't a technical problem. It was a field problem.
TwentyTo2 launched in late 2025 with a straightforward premise: send people into stores, capture what the data companies miss, and deliver it in formats that MENA brand teams actually use.
